Sculptural and modern solid walnut three legged armless lounge chair by Morten Stenbaek. The Whale Chair is hand carved by the artist and the back resembles the tail of a whale, hence the name. Organic and curvaceous in form the entire chair is constructed from solid walnut and oil finished. Sculpted seat with joint details at front legs. Surprisingly comfortable and ergonomic! Inspired by designs by Wendell Castle. Signed and dated by the artist. Please contact us for current available inventory.
When Morten Stenbæk enters his workshop, his thoughts and all that excites hims evolves around the idea of creating unique well crafted pieces of furniture that both meets simple seating needs and both facilitates concentration and contemplation. Creating all his furniture by hand, Morten's working methods takes precision, dedication and the will to obtain perfection. This comes out in his different furniture collections where his aesthetics is in the tension between comfortable and minimal which also characterizes the Danish functionalist style of furniture. All of his pieces are single handedly produced in Aarhus, Denmark. -
