A fantastic, oversize antique Oushak carpet. The real deal, the genuine article, the kind that built the legend of Oushak.

The best examples, like this one, display a lighthearted, playful, almost impressionistic take on classical Persian designs: motifs enlarged, improvised with charming imperfections, mixed with elements Turkish tribal weavers bring from their own local traditions, rendered in colors not seen anywhere else in the carpet weaving world. Still supremely appealing more than a century after its creation.
