Description
Vase from “Camouflage” series designed by Daniel Folkmann Andersen (1885-1959) for Michael Andersen & Sons, having cylindrical form with flared mouth up top and undulating rings near base, with the surface decorated using a network of piped slip “cloisons” applied in an organic, cloud-like pattern (evoking both the camouflage of WWI and the modeling style of designer Thorvald Bindesboll) with Prussian blue and golden glazes applied in radiating strokes, black tinted “cloisins,” hand-thrown glazed earthenware, Denmark, 1916-1920, marked by impression “MA&S” and “1367”
