Description
Retaining traces of an old blue paint, this settle is part of a distinctive group with armrests terminating in a lollipop shape. One came out of a Quaker meetinghouse near Media, PA. For related examples, see Benno Forman, American Seating Furniture, p. 193 (at Winterthur Museum); Nutting, Furniture Treasury, no. 1628 (now at RISD); and Antiques, March 1977, p. 447.
