Description
Painter, illustrator, ceramic sculptor and Royal Academy graduate, Knud Kyhn (1880-1969) played a leading role in the design/development of ceramic stoneware pieces for Royal Copenhagen starting in the early 1900s. His "Sung" glaze on stoneware series of animals is his most famous and collected - showing a beautiful mottled brown that captures the spirit of the Arts & Crafts movement. This resting "foal" has eyes closed and legs tucked. Denmark c1964. Marks at bottom: painted "20516", three waves, printed Royal Copenhagen stamp, incised KK monogram.
