Pair of French champlevé enamel and gilt bronze vases

$ 5,500
  • Description
    This magnificent pair of vases is wrought from gilt bronze and champlevé enamel in the distinctive, visually striking Renaissance Revival style. The cylindrical body of each vase is profusely adorned with champlevé enamel, the enamel fashioned into scrolling arabesques, flowers, and other geometrical motifs, all executed in pink, purple, and blue polychrome enamels. Each vase stands on a square gilt bronze base, inset with complementary enamel decorative motifs. Gilt bronze twin handles are mounted to the shoulder of each vase—each handle in the form of a female bust—while each vase culminates in a curvilinear neck, which widens into a flared lip.
