$ 70,000
  • Description
    Pair of Neoclassical style malachite and gilt bronze commodes
    French, 20th Century
    Height 87cm, width 84cm, depth 38cm

    This superb pair of Neoclassical style console tables is wrought from malachite, gilt bronze, and mirror—the malachite being a later, beneficial veneer. Each commode, raised on malachite faceted tapering legs atop gilt bronze toupie feet, features curved and open side profiles. The body of each commode contains two open shelves, the backboard lined with mirror, while the apron houses shallow drawers, the entire apron mounted with gilt bronze drapery. The combination of malachite and gilt bronze is a timeless one, effected wonderfully in this pair.
