Description
Franz Hagenauer (1906-1986) was one of Vienna's most important sculptors, a true artist in every sense of the word.
Franz came from a family of sculptors, his father Carl and brother Karl were great sculptors in there own right where they created designs for the Wiener Werkstätte art collective.
This dancing sailor is typical of the fluidity of his work, whether a greyhound or a horse they all have a great sense of motion. One of the best parts is his sailor cap resting on his head to one side like a real sailor would ware it, a really charming piece. -
