Description
Andy Warhol Campbell’s soup can rug / tapestry, country of origin: Scandinavia, date circa mid-20th century. This vintage rug pays homage to one of Andy Warhol‘s most famous pieces of artwork, the immediately recognizable and ever-popular Campbell’s soup can. The hues of bright red and subtle green in this piece play off of each other with dramatic effect. The first images Warhol produced of this popular soup can were done in realistic colors. Later on in the artist’s career, he continued to create striking images in other ways, one of which is the varied coloring that is featured in this vintage rug. This particular vintage rug recalls an exciting and innovative time in the world of art and popular culture.
