Jennie Wilde

American
Jennie Wilde an American artist and sculptor working in clay. Her work is a manipulation of the clay material to evoke imaginary yet realistic forms.  Each sculpture takes direct inspiration from the natural world combining original, organic shapes of both living and non-living things.  Found refuse is often integrated into the design of the works, intensifying the visual language and bringing a sense of history and awe to each sculpture.
The creation process balances hand building, deconstructing and reassembly of each form by carving, marking and sculpting the surface until an emotional quality is revealed.  Each work is shaped by hand, and uses natural materials - like rocks and shells - to create the unusual and irregular surface of each piece.
Collection: Buried Below
Buried Below is a new series of sculptures made with raw black clay.  Each piece is intended to evoke a sense of time and suggest the eventual mortality of nature through the intense color, broken edges, cracked layers and perforated forms.
