Description
Victorian gilt bronze and wood jardinière table
English, late 19th Century
Height 75cm, width 96cm, depth 53cm
This jardinière table serves dual purposes: the piece of furniture functions as a centre table, but, once the removeable tabletop has been separated, the piece acts as a jardinière.
The centre of the removable tabletop is finished with a burl veneer, which is encompassed by a variety of other wood inlays. The table’s edge is mounted with an inset gilt bronze frieze. Below the tabletop, the apron is similarly decorated with veneers and is fitted with a variety of gilt bronze mounts. The table stands on four fluted and tapered wooden legs, mounted with gilt bronze, which culminate in castor wheels and are connected by a stretcher. - More Information
