Union Square Doctor's Office

Dr. Mabrie’s objective for his facial plastic surgery practice on the 13th floor of the historic Whittell building was to create a modern and comfortable environment for patients to relax before and after treatment and a welcoming work space for the staff. Our client was inspired by the industrial raw space and the 1906 birdcage elevator. To also appeal to female patients, we balanced the design between an industrial and masculine feel and softer and more elegant expressions. Two commissioned murals became to starting point for the color palette where we paired neutral grays and black with the brand colors of the practice. In the reception area we kept the palette light with accents of saturated color and a preserved moss wall, while in the Lux lounge we went for a dark background to offset rainbow color mural.

Since Dr. Mabrie often holds events in the evenings the rooms were all designed and lit to create inviting atmospheres for various uses. Adding a hospitality component in the Lux Lounge with snacks and beverages offered on/in bone china and crystal, patients may drink espresso from a bone china demitasse while putting on makeup or sip Champagne from elegant crystal during a phone call, or perhaps pick up a spontaneous game of ping pong with a fellow patient. The overall goal was to make waiting for your doctor a most pleasant experience.
