Pair of patinated bronze and ormolu ewer vases
French, late 19th Century

Each vase in this pair, wrought in the Louis XV style, is formed from a combination of gilt and patinated bronze. The patinated bronze body of each is decorated with a relief scene of putti carousing with musical instruments and fruits of the harvest. Each vase sits on a gilt bronze base, the bronze beautifully adorned with foliate motifs, and each is mounted to the top with a gilt bronze ewer-form neck. Strikingly, each features a beautiful, curved handle topped by a winged putto finial. -
