Description
Barba Corsini Pedrera coffee table in brass for Gubi. The Pedrera coffee table was designed in 1955 by Barba Corsini for the loft space at La Pedrera, the famous landmark in Barcelona. Executed in glass with a brass-plated metal base, the table fits well into any contemporary home.
In 1955 Barba Corsini renovated the loft space within Antoni Gaudi ´s famous building “La Pedrera” in Barcelona, transforming it from a simple laundry room and storage area into 13 modern duplex apartments. To reinforce the modernist style of the rooms, Corsini decorated the apartment with furniture that he designed himself, including Pedrera lamps and tables. The slender base of the Pedrera Coffee Table was inspired by the vaulted ceilings of La Pedrera.
Price is per item. Also available in semi matte black.
Barba Corsini (1916-2008) was a leading functionalist architect who won international praise for his architecture and his design for La Pedrera in Barcelona. Corsini was strongly inspired by the German architect Mies van der Rohe and the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. He also had a great affinity to Finnish architecture, which he believed to be the finest in Europe on account of the powerful simplicity of the designs. 'Powerful simplicity' is perhaps an Apt description of Corsini's personal design style, as represented by the Pedrera coffee table.
