Verner Panton Model 270f Armchair, 1965, Gebrüder Thonet Germany

Sold Sold
  • Description
A Royal Academy of Denmark graduate - Verner Panton worked directly with Arne Jacob Jacobsen early in his career before creating his own studio in 1955. He used color and novel materials to great pop-art acclaim in furniture design. The 270F series was designed to be modular with different color options for the three primary parts of the chair - and included serialized pieces such as stools and tables. The entire chair is made with bent plywood that is perfectly lacquered - and originally available in green, blue, red, orange or white. This pair is two different colors, blue and orange - with later black painting that is worn in places to reveal the original color underneath. Produced by A. Sommer in the mid-1950s and sold thru Gebrüder Thonet.
