This modernist “Kosmos” chair in blue velvet has been called a masterpiece of Italian vintage design history. It was designed by Augusto Bozzi for the Italian manufacturer Saporiti Italy in 1954.

This chair has an elegant & slim metal structure in black lacquered tubular steel to support the shell-like moulded and upholstered seat that embraces the sitter. The streamlined shape and fabric of the seat gives the chair not only a modern and elegant look, but also great comfort.

The iconic design of this unique model combines Italian elegance and modern aesthetics. The Kosmos chair is a timeless piece which is full of modern energy that will endure for generations thanks to its exceptional manufacturing technique. The chair has its original label on its metal structure.

Condition:
Item is in good vintage condition. Frame has some rust, marks and dents. Fabric has been redone by previous owner.

About the Designer:
Augusto Bozzi (1924–1982) was an Italian furniture designer. He is known for designing iconic chairs and armchairs and for working together with Sergio Saporiti, founder of the Saportti company in Italy, 1940s.

Saporiti manufactured some of his most famous furniture collections and designs. Bozzi also worked alongside other famous designers such as Alberto Rosselli and Giorgio Raimondi to create design objects and furniture with innovative materials inspired by Scandinavian style. Among some of Bozzi’s most famous and imitated chairs there is the Ariston, 1957. ~H.
