Coffee table "Classical Muses" in etched and patinated bronze and pewter with painted enamels by Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, American 1964 (signed). Comes with original invoice dated July 1, 1964 which states “Special table - Chan #140 shape and size - Classical Muses design”. The table featuring muses was the Classical Table which was square; this was a custom special order in this shape and size.

Philip & Kelvin Laverne SCULPTURE III catalog published in the 1960s, Classical Table is shown on page 7 with a description in the back which states “The eternally inspiring “Muses” of antiquity, as sculpted by hand in timeless bronze. One views “Calliope,” goddess of poetry, “Euterpe,” goddess of music, “Thalia,” goddess of drama…posed amidst ethereal beauty of delicately wrought clouds and stars.” -
