Here is a wonderful original watercolor and gouache depicting a scene from Emile Zola book “A Page of Love” by the American artist, Jean Leon Gerome Ferris. Circa 1890. Signed too right. Condition is very good, no issues. Very nicely professionally matted and framed. Overall framed measurements are 13 by 11.25 inches. Light wear consistent with age. No examined out of frame. Provenance: Florida estate.

Jean Leon Gerome Ferris (1863-1930) was a painter of Philadelphia, Pa. Ferris studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and in Paris at the Académie Julian and with Jean Léon Gérôme. He signed some works as G. Ferris. In 1900, he began a series of paintings on American history. He became best known for this series of 78 scenes from American history, entitled The Pageant of a Nation, the largest series of American historical paintings by a single artist.
