Description
Oil on board original painting of a beautiful summer’s day in the park along the Seine in Paris, France. Keith Oehmig, the well known Maine artist recently completed this painting. The setting for the painting is the Square du Vert-Galwnt . Condition is excellent. Signed lower right. The painting is framed in a custom hand carved gold leaf with overall measurements being 15 by 17 inches.
Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Oehmig now resides in Brunswick, Maine. He graduated from Principia College in Elsah, Illinois in 1984 with a B.A. in Studio Art and Art History. Oehmig''s works are infused with light and color, and his impressionistic style is well suited to capturing the play of light on water and the light, fluffy clouds so often present in his work. Oehmig works primarily in Maine and Florida, capturing the coast and the beaches with quick brushstrokes and playful colors. Oehmig''s paintings have won numerous awards such as the Merit Award from the Hunter Museum of Art in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the Mable Axcy Dominick Award at Principia College, the Kodak International Newspaper Award, and Best In Show-Cityscape at the Gallery at Six Deering in Portland, Maine. Oehmig has shown his work in solo and group exhibitions at locales including the Bates College Museum of Art in Lewiston, Maine; the Hunter Museum of Art; the Portland Museum of Art in Portland, Maine; the Wood Museum and Library in Chicago, Illinois; Albany Fine Arts in Albany, New York; Art Boston, in Boston, Massachusetts; the Bay View Gallery in Camden, Maine; Clarke Galleries in Palm Beach, Florida; J. Todd Galleries in Wellesley, Massachusetts; the Maine State House in Augusta, Maine; and the Wiscasset Bay Gallery in Wiscasset, Maine. Museums, corporate and public collections, and private collectors in the United State and abroad own Oehmig's paintings. His works can be found in the collections of the Hunter Museum of Art; the Portland Museum of Art; the Wood Museum and Library; Casco Northern Bank in Brunswick, Maine; Ensign Bank in New York, New York; Galerie K in Berlin, Germany; GTE/Sylvania Collection in Waldoboro, Maine; Key Bank of Maine; MBNA collection in Wilmington, Delaware; and United Technologies Corporation in Hartford, Connecticut.
Erected in tribute to Henri IV and his numerous mistresses, the Square du Vert Galant obtained the ‘Espace vert écologique' (ecological green space) label in 2007. And with good reason, the square has an impressive fauna and flora considering it is situated in the centre of the capital. Consequently, the Square du Vert Galant has become one of the most popular places for romantic strolls where loving couples enjoy little boat trips and wonderful views of the Seine, the Musée du Louvre and the Hôtel de la and the Hôtel de la Monnaie. -
