Pair of Minton Majolica jardinière and stands which feature ram's head handles and fruit swags. Rare, Magenta ground version. Colouration: magenta, green, pink, are predominant. Minton date cipher for the year 1853, impressed to the underside of one jardiniere. Book reference ,'The Dictionary of Minton' by Paul Atterbury and Maureen Batkin, page 107, figure 1. N.B: The magenta glaze is opaque and less glosssy than the glazes more often found on Victorian Minton Majolica.
