A well-known set of values inspire Scandinavian design: durability, functionality, reliability - but also less tangible values such as simplicity and joy, that together create the daily pleasure furniture pieces are supposed to provide. These values are visible throughout this Danish lounge chair, with some added quirkiness that makes it special.

What immediately stands out in visual terms is the voluptuousness and elongated seat of this model. The embracing silhouette is further enhanced by the armrests and the “wings” on the backrest with similarly shaped curves. In Scandinavian design, emotional warmth is never designed out of the picture, as it can be in the more austere reaches of the industrial inspired Bauhaus aesthetic. That warmth here is expressed in the colour, pattern and texture of the upholstery, in the organic form, and the generous size. There is an undeniable human quality to the design that offers psychological warmth. The front and back legs differ in their shape, and add the quirky quality to the design. The dark, stained beech legs in the back serve a more functional purpose, to support the body’ stability, therefore they are tapered and gently bent. The front legs serve a more aesthetic purpose, and complement the curvature of the body. The greenish bouclé fabric pairs beautifully with the dark colour of the wood, while also highlighting the lines and angles of the design.

The masterful sense of proportions, the winged back and the soft seat cushion guarantee functionality and comfort. To highlight the cosy and modern look, this lounge chair has been reupholstered in premium bouclé fabric with an interesting colour scheme and button tufting.
