Fred Brouard (1944-1999)
Aquarius III, table base in polished bronze with a round glass tray.
Signed F Brouard and numbered 10 on one of the feet.
Creation date: 1976
After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Rouen where he followed the teaching of the painter Savary and the sculptor Leleu, Fred Brouard joined the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1964. After a stint in the studio of Henri -Georges Adam, he becomes Alicia Penalba's assistant. He took part in numerous group exhibitions at the Sonnabend Gallery in New York, at the Salon de la jeune sculpture, or at the Biennale de Padoue in 1975. In 1978 his first solo exhibition took place at the Espace Ecureuil in Paris. He then had his bronzes polished at Louis Privat, the best worker in France, who conveyed to him the concern for perfection. Enjoying a solid reputation in the 1980s, Fred Brouard increased his exhibitions on an international scale: European Sculpture Biennale in 1982, the Museum of Modern Art in Paris in 1986, the Odeon Gallery in 1990, etc. -
