  • Description
Presenting a gorgeous and rare Loredano Rosin murano glass sculpture.

From circa 1960 and made in Murano, Italy by the World Renowned Artist, Loredano Rosin.

The sculpture is a clear glass figure with his/her head in his/her hands and in a kneeling position.

The figure sits on a clear glass plinth with signature and original label to the front and imprinted seal.

The figure is what would be described as ‘asexual’ being neither definitively male or female.

Rosin made a later and smaller sculpture (similar to this but not of the same quality) of a woman in similar pose called ‘Shame’.

This sculpture is so rare that we cannot find another or if any name was ascribed to it.

It is quite heavy and large, as it is a solid piece of hand blown glass, weighing 28 lbs and being 15.5 inches tall.

Provenance: From the Private Collection of a New York/Manhattan Art Dealer.

Condition: Near Mint. Some loss of original label.

Dimensions: 15.5 inches tall, 5.5 inches deep and 10.5 inches wide. Weight: 28 lbs.

A stunning art glass sculpture for any style of home !

Loredano Rosin was an Italian sculptor best known for his traditional use of Murano glass to depict stylized figures and animals. By employing an ancient Italian technique from Calcedonia, he used silver nitrate to create subtle color striations in his figurines. Rosin worked as a master glass blower for Salviati & Company, where he notably collaborated with artists such as Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall in realizing their vision in glass. Born in 1936 in Venice, Italy, he studied with Romano Zanelli and Cocui Saor as a teenager before establishing his own studio, where he worked with his brothers Mirko and Dino Rosin. Today, his works are held in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, among others. The artist died in 1992 in Venice, Italy.
