Fine Quality George III Miniature Chest on Chest
-
Description
The upper section with a fully finished pediment over two short and three long drawers, with fluted and canted corners above the lower section of three long drawers above a carved base on shaped ogee bracket feet, the whole bing entirely original. The quality of this piece can be determined by the use of finely figured mahogany and the quality of the dovetail joints throughout.
Fine quality miniature case furniture of the period is exceptionally rare and this, at two feet in height, could have been designed for a grand dolls house in a noble estate. In the 21st century though, it would be ideal, if silk or felt lined to store precious objects and jewelry.
