Description
Beautifully crafted large teak desk by Herbert Hirche in the Bauhaus tradition with a simple square tube steel frame by the German industrial firm Christian Holzäpfel in the 1950s. Three right-side drawers with slots for removable dividers. Left side drawer over large hanging file cabinet drawer. Two plastic pull out tray extensions for added work-space. There is a keyhole though no key and the unit is not currently locked. Recently refinished. The desk was originally commissioned for German psycho- analytics Max Planck Institute. Manufacture tag to inside of drawer. Minor marks to interior drawers. Germany 1950s. Knee height 29"
