Description
Rare and important Italian Post Modern dining table base by the legendary Memphis designer, Massimo Iosa-Ghini. The table is a prototype from a small edition and a prime example of the designer's early Bolidist architecture and design. Iosa Ghini is considered one of the Fathers of Bolidism, a style which is anti-rational, where the visual impact is favored over the object’s functional purpose. It borrows elements from futurism such as the use of aerodynamic and organic forms with an emphasis on movement and speed, and is fascinated with human and machine interaction.
Iosa Ghini achieved fame through his early membership in the Memphis Design Group in 1981. He has had major world-wide architectural commissions including the Ferrari Factory Store and his design pieces have been collected by major museums throughout the world and David Bowie.
The table is shown with a 48" top (not included) but it works very well with a top from 54" to 60". In addition, 4 Iosa Ghini accompanying dining chairs are also available.. The obvious rust to the surface can be removed easily and the table can be re-nickeled.
Base dimensions alone are: H 28.25 x D 39.5.
