Description
Throughout centuries, rugs from Oushak have been considered one of the finest in the world. They have been represented among the carefully chosen and highly esteemed objects d’art in the studied interiors and still life paintings of important European personages since the sixteenth century, as depicted by such artists as Holbein, Lotto, Velasquez, Memling or Vermeer.
This antique Oushak rug was made circa 1920. Its camel field carries a restrained design of angular flowering vines linked to a pair of light brown medallions, framing a stylized central medallion within a light brown primitive flowering vine border.
This antique Turkish Oushak rug is distinguished by refined workmanship. Thoroughly hand-knotted of the finest wool in accordance with centuries-old techniques, the rug is durable and resilient. If properly maintained, it will serve its owners for generations without any signs of wear. Versatile, qualitative and elegant, this antique Oushak rug will easily fit into a wide variety of interior arrangements, bringing in a magical touch of recherché art.
