Rare 1970s Italian Coffee Table by Massimo and Lella Vignelli for Casigliani
-
Description
Very rare coffee table by Massimo and Lella Vignelli produced by Casigliani in the 1970s in Italy. The table consists of three pieces: a bowl and a base element made out of various slices of different types of wood and the glass top. The loose glass top is placed inside the base element and on the bowl. Beautiful and very simple construction with a beautiful contrast of the warm wood elements and the glass top. The table is a visual statement thanks to the graphic wooden elements.
Massimo Vignelli (January 10, 1931 – May 27, 2014) was an Italian designer who worked in a number of areas ranging from package design through houseware design and furniture design to public signage and showroom design. He was the co-founder of Vignelli Associates, with his wife, Lella. His ethos was, "If you can design one thing, you can design everything," and this was reflected in the broad range of his work. Vignelli worked firmly within the Modernist tradition and focused on simplicity through the use of basic geometric forms in all his work. -
