Sumptuously glazed large scaled Art Deco vase by Kahler Keramik, having an elegantly muscular tapering globe form with short cylindrical cuff neck, hand-thrown in earthenware with a moody glaze in dark teal textured with sponged cerulean, black and white, Denmark, 1920s-1930s. This vase is a marvelous example of Kahler's greatest strengths--the perfectly subtle sense of hand one sees in the exacting contours of this vase speaks to the very high level of skill of the studio's artisans, and the gorgeously calibrated textures and tones of the glaze shows the technical and artistic oversight of Jens Thirslund with their production.
