Pair of lamps by Jean Roger, Paris France, circa 1960

Sold Sold
  • Description
Two table lamps in ceramic painted in trompe l'oeil of marble, ivory and blackened wood. Signed under the base.

Founded in 1947, the House of Jean Roger is known throughout the world for its exquisite and original ceramics. Its founder, Jean, was a visionary and daring ceramist: in the mid-fifties, he distinguished himself by creating original models that inspired collectors and famous designers, including Hans Knoll for his furniture, Jean Royère, the houses of Jansen, Dior and Chanel. Jean Roger was soon joined by his son Jean-Jacques, who introduced trompe-l'oeil enamel, a technique of lacquer applied to earthenware that became his signature.
