Benoît Trimborn
French, 1976
Artist Bio: Trimborn
French artist Trimborn is celebrated for his breathtaking large-scale landscapes rendered in oil on canvas. With a background in architecture, he defines his work as "contemporary impressionism," reflecting his distinctive approach to everyday subjects, his focus on the ethereal quality of light, and his deep connection to the natural world.
Trimborn explains, "The morphology of the landscapes, or more essentially, the space that the countryside paints, draws my attention and ignites my imagination. As an architect, I perceive a breath, a light, and a rhythm that naturally forms a principle of beauty. In painting, I am guided by these rural landscapes, which evolve through the seasons and are shaped by meteorological and agricultural variations. I envision the transition from the countryside to the canvas, a journey that speaks for itself—free from unnecessary chatter, as everything is inherently present."
In his art, Trimborn allows the painting to communicate on its own, conveying atmospheres that evoke the depth of nature, akin to a musician interpreting their score. While the human figure is notably absent, its essence is subtly suggested through well-tended fields or grazing animals, inviting viewers to engage in contemplation and a closer study of the environment. His works emphasize the vastness of nature, capturing the changing seasons, the fleeting reflections in pools of water, and the intricate interplay of light, water, and sky. Through his artistry, Trimborn invites a meditative experience, encouraging viewers to appreciate the beauty and complexity of the natural world.
