European Mid-Century Modern Daybed in Pony Hide, Europe ca 1950s

This gorgeous daybed was inspired by classic mid-century European furniture design and simplicity. Pieces from the mid-century era, like this daybed, are characterized by clarity in design and extremely high-quality craftsmanship and choice of materials.

The streamlined solid wood frame of this model features a robust, fully upholstered top, and elegant, long wood legs. From the minimalistic design to the focus on the upholstery, this daybed has a distinctive look that relies on the unique texture of the pony hide. Pony Hair leather, also known as Pony Fur or Calf-Hair, is usually created from cow or goat hide. It is made from the hair side of the hide, whereas most leather is made from the non-hair side. Thanks to this, the shades, patterns and texture can vary, which is beautifully showcased on this daybed. The fully upholstered body has a square pattern that is not only unique, it highlights these subtle differences in colour as well. The design is completed with a cylinder-shaped pillow in a natural linen fabric that is secured to the body. The sleek look is the result of the clean lines, functional design and expert craftsmanship.
