Description
Louis XIV style carved giltwood rectangular console table
Italian, Late 19th Century
Height 90cm, width 142cm, depth 65cm
This Belle Epoque table takes inspiration from the very beginning of the French Golden Age of furniture making in the 18th Century, in the period during the rule of King Louis XIV, and was itself made in Italy towards the end of the 19th century around the turn of the twentieth. Featuring an ornate giltwood frame decorated with acanthus leaf scrolls, a central plaque just below the top and an ornate x-form stretcher joining the four legs, this Italian console table is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. The table's rectangular top is made from veined red marble, giving it a timeless, elegant feel. -
