Description
A large and rare bronze female figure by Goldscheider
Austrian, late 19th Century
Height 85cm, width 38cm, 25cm
Large in size and all the rarer for having been cast in bronze, this superb female figure is by the Austrian artist and sculptor Friedrich Goldscheider (Austrian, 1845-1897). In bronze, rather than Goldscheider's usual terracotta, it depicts a sultry, erotic, female figure, her gown slipping off her shoulders, stood raising her left hand high, with a snake entwined over her shoulders and across her figure. An exceptional Art Deco piece, rendered with great sensitivity, poise, and finish, it is a superb sculpture, and a remarkable decorative and display piece.
