French 19th Century Painted & Carved Trumeau
-
Description
This fantastic trumeau is the perfect combination of a piece that is just as artistic as it is functional. The worn slate gray paint has a tinge of blue and has gained a handsome patina. The large whimsical oil painting is encircled with low relief carving and topped with a tied ribbon. Done in organic tones with soft brush strokes, the scene depicts multiple groups of people enjoying a natural spring surrounded by dense forest. The square antique mirror plate is surrounded in the same fashion as the painting with floral dies in each corner and faux artichoke finials at the top. Gracing the space between the mirror and painting is a carved, detailed urn flanked with flowing ribbon and laurel swags. Make sure to view the detailed images for a closer look at this eye catching mirror.
