William Armbruster Monumental five-seat sofa for Chase Manhattan Executive Offices.
A generous 144" in length, Reupholstered with Italian wool, cotton, and poly fabric with 30,000 double rubs.
Armbruster was included in MoMA's Good Design exhibits in the early 50's and lauded by such figures as George Nelson. His company, Edgewood Furniture, competed with Knoll in contract settings, such as Gordon Bunschaft and SOM’s Manufacturers Trust building at 510 Fifth Ave in New York City, where his chairs sat opposite a major Bertoia wall installation. This monumentally long, floating sofa form graced the executive offices of Chase Manhattan. -
