    Total weight: 3,446 grams.

Bearing the mark of Tuck Chang & Co., the silver and jewellery company based in Shanghai and active in the late 19th and early 20th century, this exceptional tea set was made for the Chinese export market, and was crafted with exceptional skill and artistry. Consisting of four main pieces: a teapot, coffee pot, creamer, and sugar bowl with cowl - along with six matching teacups and saucers, all of the pieces are applied with cranes and chickens, which are scattered amongst flowers and foliage.

The handles are in the form of bamboo vines, as are the finials and spouts, and the pieces are engraved for the makers: the leading firm Tuck Chang & Co. Chinese export works such as this exquisite example were highly popular in the nineteenth century, as they provided a style, quality, and appeal rarely matched by European silverwork. This set will prove highly desirable and a beautiful interior addition to the right collector.
