Description
This is a wonderfully naturally patinated hand carved oval frame that most probably originally held a portrait. The frame was created in the late 17th or early 18th century and originally was gold leafed. Over its 300 years of life it has been stripped of its gold and has suffered minor damage which has been lovingly restored. Decorative items such as this mirror seem to have acquired depth of soul and would lend a sense of place to any room. As can be seen from the photos, the mirror has been restored in several spots but it maintains its integrity. The mirror plate is 20th century.
