18th Century Portuguese Rococo Dining Chairs, Set of 8
-
Description
This is a superb set of 8 Mid-18th Century Portuguese Rococo dining chairs. The chairs are beautifully carved of solid walnut and are highlighted with carved acanthus leaf and other botanical detailing. The legs feature well-carved knees and claw and ball feet. The front rail is carved with an open drop pendant. The caned seats are an uncommon featured; the seats have been recaned. We are including the vintage cushions as a courtesy; however, the cushions are not included in the listing. The detail carvings are accented in gold leaf. The chairs have had minor anticipated restorations over their nearly 300 years of life, but are in sturdy condition. The gold leaf has been refreshed and the walnut surfaces have been re-stained and waxed.
