In 1958, Børge Mogensen and his family travelled to Spain. In Andalucia he fell in love with an old chair with a wide seat and broad armrests. Once back in Denmark, he created The Spanish Chair.

Borge Morgensen was one of the most influential among a generation of furniture designers who made the concept of 'Danish Modern' known throughout the world. Borge's furniture designs were intended to invoke a sense of tranquility with a modest appearance. With his commitment to producing classical, simple and highly functional furniture, he created international respect and a worldwide demand.
