Description
A finely framed and matted lithograph by Barbara A. Wood woman with hat flowers.
From Columbus, Ohio, Barbara Wood is a painter of modernist figures, especially females, and genre scenes, and for much of her subject matters, draws on her own life of raising three children. She also does lithography.
She was raised in Columbus by her mother, grandmother and great grandmother and never knew her father. Her mother spent her weekdays working, which meant that Barbara spent much time with her grandmothers. She said that "the personalities of the three women formed a catalyst for her art. She also had much time for pursuing her talent as a youngster because she suffered from asthma and spent much time alone---"on the inside looking out. -
