Description
ALTAIR is part of an ongoing project that pays attention to the stellar system and is named after one of the brightest stars in the sky, the brightest in Aquila ?s constellation. ALTAIR is an abbreviation of the original Arabic name of the star, “the flying eagle”.
Constructed in solid walnut it conforms to a perfect sphere based on the geometrical structure of the rhombicosidodecahedron, an Archimedean solid conformed of thirty squares, twenty equilateral triangles and twelve pentagons.
ALTAIR is a limited edition piece and the whole process for its construction is carried out manually: the assembly of the modules, the polishing of the piece and the final finish in natural oil.

In his prolific work, Pedro Cerisola (Mexico) combines advanced technology with highly skilled craftsmanship. His objects are created researching the beauty of geometric constructive principles found in nature and how these systems can be applied to the design and fabrication of modular structures. Cerisola's work is in the permanent collection of the University Museum of Sciences in Mexico City and has been exhibited at the Museo Rufino Tamayo, Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City, the Franz Mayer Design Museum, at Wanted Design in New York, Zona Maco Mexico City and private galleries. -
