Description
A Volkstedt porcelain model of a parrot
German, Early 20th Century
Height 14cm, width 13cm, depth 6cm
This bold, bright, and beautiful porcelain bird model of a parrot was made by the German makers Volkstedt, or Aelteste Volkstedter Porzellanmanufaktur, in the early 20th century. Delicate, expressive, and intricate, and only 14cm tall in total, the small yet boastful bird is placed on a white stump, in the typical fashion of German porcelain animalia pieces, and makes for a delightful interior addition or home accent. It is marked to the base for the makers in blue underglaze.
