Louis XVI Period Oval Mirror
-
Description
This is one of the most stunning and unique period Louis XVI mirrors we have seen. The depth and finely detailed floral carvings include sunflowers, lilies, daisies and roses. The bows at both the top and bottom of the mirror are elaborate and finely carved. The interior edge of the frame is beaded. In addition to the quality of carving, the frame is well-proportioned and in exceptional condition. the gold leaf is original and any restorations are not evident. The mirror plate is not original; this stunning frame most probably originally encircled an important portrait.
