Description
Looking for that special chair? You know, the one that nobody else has? This is it. From Hiroshima, Japan in the 1950s. This rope lounge chair is not only beautiful, it's comfortable to boot. This chair was brought back from a trip to Japan in the 1950s when a young couple went there to adopt a child. We acquired it from that child. With only 1 owner, this chair sat in its home in Camarillo for almost 70 years.
For fans of the Netflix series, Beef, this chair can prominently be seen in the 65 Chairs Exhibition, front and center.
All original, this chair even comes with its original cushions. There is one tassel still attached to the bottom cushion. This chair has more character and history than most items we've ever had in the gallery.
Maruni Mekko of Japan has quite the following and after sitting in, and appreciating this piece, it's very clear why. Fine craftsmanship merged with beautiful details on an ebonized beech frame make this handsome lounge chair timelessly stylish. A true heirloom piece with a story.
This piece would look excellent in any Mid-Century Modern, modern, or contemporary environment. As photographed with a Paul Evans cube table, this chair really can effortlessly blend into any style. Jacques Guillon chairs have nothing on this mid century string chair! -
