Description
An academic figure study from the École des Beaux-Arts, depicting the rigorous classical training that defined 19th-century French artistry. The careful rendering of form and shadow reveals the disciplined pursuit of anatomical perfection central to the academy's traditional curriculum.
Circa 1880, this original period work was created during the height of the school's influence as the global epicenter of fine arts education.
Charcoal and graphite on paper, preserved with a soft patina that speaks to its history within a Parisian studio. Rooted in the Neoclassical tradition, this study embodies the academic reverence for antiquity and the systematic mastery of the human figure that shaped generations of great masters. -
