Description
Chinese Qingbai lobed foliate-rim bowl, Song Dynasty (circa 960-1279): porcelain shallow bowl resting upon tapered footed base. Peony flower decoration incised upon interior of bowl. Known colloquially as celadon-jade, it is neither, but instead a type of Ding-ware porcelain defined by an even pale, translucent greenish-blue celadon-colored glaze over white. Subtle losses to glaze at rim from centuries of natural wear and age.
