Large Coffee Table Model “Eros” In Marble By Angelo Mangiarotti, Italy 1971

Sold Sold
  • Description
Large coffee table model “Eros” in Mondragone marble by Angelo Mangiarotti. An exceptional coffee table from the famous series with the evocative name “Eros” by the renowned Italian architect Angelo Mangiarotti produced by Skipper. This series emerged from various studies into the connections between leg and leaf. The beautiful oval top has four round recesses where the tapering columns fit exactly. Columns or legs if you will keep the leaf straight and protrude just a few millimeters above the leaf.Mondragone is the type of marble used for the legs and the top and is quarried in the town of the same name in the southern Italian region of Campania. The material is gray-brown in color and shows a refined variety of shades within that spectrum. Numerous small black veins stand out against a quietly changing background. White streaks and splashes are diffusely spread over the marble and complete the luxurious appearance. A subtle shine sweeps over the object, adding an extra dimension and depthness to the material as a finishing touch. The power of this object lies in the combination of simplicity, material and beautiful proportions. Everything is in perfect harmony and it is not without reason that it is a classic within the mid-century design canon. The condition of the table is very good with only two small damages on the edge that are barely visible.
