Description
A stunning and dramatic Neoclassical inspired hand-hammered gilt iron console or sofa table by Italian sculptor and designer, Giovanni Banci, Florence, circa 1970. The rectangular gilded iron plinth base supports the gilded iron scrolls on each end with an undulating and organic form which meet the base with chic ball feet at its base and balls at the center, the scrolls terminate at the apron through dramatic rings. The demi-lune shaped travertine top is set gracefully into the gilded iron surround. An artisan made piece with masterful craftsmanship, echoing the forms of the Neoclassic but with a decidedly modernist twist.
by Italian sculptor and designer, Giovanni Banci, Florence, circa 1970.
