Description
This dynamic yet reserved Pair of Mid-Century Modernist Buckle Form Andirons in Polished Brass & Black Enamel are by the esteemed designer Donald Deskey, originating from the United States, Circa 1950. Sleek and flawlessly executed, they feature a minimal geometric composition with square buckle form elements in rounded polished brass, contrasting beautifully with the matte black enamel finish of the framework made in caste iron. The framework is minimal and cleverly designed, with a curved section towards the front of the pieces which serves to elevate the body of the andirons, then a rectangular strip of iron that rises to form an attachment point from which the polished Brass Buckle elements elegantly hang. Donald Deskey is a pioneer of Industrial and Interior design, moving from Art Deco to Streamline Moderne design motifs within his career, and responsible for iconic designs in both the artistic and commercial worlds. This clever use of geometry, historical references and motifs, and rigorous attention to detail and craft can be seen in this Pair of Andirons, serving as a beautiful example of his practice. This pair is sure to give a dash of sophistication and material strength to your space, from Mid-Century Modernist to Contemporary and Minimal Interiors. In Excellent Vintage Condition.
